Education
All candidates for the CPA Exam must have completed at least 150-semester hours of college education, and have a baccalaureate degree with a concentration in accounting (or be within 120 days of obtaining this education) from an educational institution recognized by the Washington State Board of Accountancy. A concentration in accounting includes:

24 semester-hour credits (36 quarter hour credits) in accounting subjects, of which at least 15 semester hours (22.5 quarter hours) are at the upper or graduate level.

24 semester-hour credits (36 quarter hour credits) in business administration subjects.

Need help with choosing a college program? There is a wide range of college and university programs in Washington State. Some will earn you a master's degree in accounting, while others may include internship opportunities, help with the CPA Exam, etc. The most important thing is to choose a program that will enable you to be "CPA Exam ready," while meeting your other needs at the same time.
