CPA Exam Once you are ready to sit for the CPA Exam, there are a few decisions to make. The first will be to determine the most convenient location for you to take the exam. The Washington State Board of Accountancy, through Prometric Testing Centers, offers the exam in three locations: Mountlake Terrace (Seattle area), Puyallup, and Spokane.
The next decision to make is which dates work best for you. There are four sections to the exam:
If you were to take all four sections of the exam at once, it would take two days of testing. You can take the exam section by section, and you can take it as many times as you need to pass all four sections. Once you pass your first section of the exam, however, you have 18 months to finish passing all of the exam sections. If you do not do so, you will need to re-take and pass those sections that you passed more than 18 months ago. In addition to passing the Uniform CPA Exam, CPA candidates must also pass the AICPA Professional Ethics Exam, which is administered as a self-study course.
