About the Washington Society of CPAs

With nearly 10,000 members, the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants is the only organization in the State of Washington dedicated to serving the professional needs of CPAs, educating consumers about CPAs and the services they provide, and encouraging students to study accounting and enter the profession. The Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants is a voluntary association of CPAs and associate members in public practice, industry, government, and education.

Student membership is open to any person who:
  • is in college studying accounting, or
  • is eligible to sit for, or is actively pursuing the CPA designation, even if done with school.
Anyone who has passed all four parts of the CPA Exam and is working toward licensure, is eligible to apply in the Student Exam Passer membership category.

Membership dues are
$35 from April 1-November 30, or
$18 from December 1 - March 30.

The fee is not prorated by month.
Student membership is renewed annually, due June 1.

Leadership and facilities

The Society, founded in 1904, is governed by an elected 16-person board of directors and is managed by a professional staff. The Society owns its headquarters in Bellevue, which serves as a learning center and meeting place, and accommodates staff offices.
